Arizona Miata drivers love to drive with the top down, but that’s understandably hard to do in June… when it’s 105 or more degrees out! Not to worry, it’s time once again to run through the gears up Mt. Lemmon near Tucson, where upon reaching the pinnacle, it is about 25 degrees cooler! Not only that… a great little restaurant called, ‘The Iron Door’, will be awaiting our arrival. We will be ordering up some tasty soups and sandwiches with a German twist, and eating on their spacious deck that offers a beautiful view and much cooler temps.
As always, directions will be handed out at the start of the run.
We will be avoiding the freeway! There will be a stop at a McDonalds for a comfort break when we enter the Tucson area. Refreshed, we’ll work our way to the base of Mt Lemmon and enjoy the pine trees on our upward journey to our final destination... good food!
Starting out from Apache Junction, it should take about 1.5 hours to reach McDonalds, and about another 1.5 hours to reach the Iron Door restaurant.
From the restaurant, you can make your own way home either by reversing the
Route we came or perhaps a quicker route via I-10.
So please, sign up soon to join the group on this popular summer club run up beautiful Mt. Lemmon.
