Rim Run Lunch Drive
“Climb to the Pines”
Date: Saturday, September 13, 2014
Meeting Location: Chevron Mini-mart, southeast corner of Beeline Highway and Fort McDowell Road (a mile or so north of Shea) at 9:30 AM
Departure Time: 10:00 AM
This run has been a perennial favorite among our club members. The drive through cactus laden mountains suddenly changes to pine-filled forests as many a colorful roadster and their owners enjoy a scenic climb to lower temperatures.
Our first stop will be an hour later at the Burger King in Payson for a bio break and/or a quick drink. From there we will proceed for another half hour or so to beautiful Strawberry, Arizona. There you will go to the StrawBEARy Bear Steakhouse for lunch.
For lunch, you can order off the menu as you choose. Please consult the website for any dietary requirements: http://www.thestrawbearybear.com.
Once finished with lunch you are on your own to enjoy the cooler air. You could go on to Winslow or Flagstaff, visit the goat farm or head east to Pinetop or Lakeside. So, please, join in the fun; and as always, driving instructions will be passed out at the meeting location, so no worries. But the short version is:
As we are coming North to Strawberry from Payson, at the top of the hill after Pine there will be a slow vehicle pull-out lane and 100 yards after that this sign...slow down, look left & Huge Bear.....BEAR Left!!
To return you may go back the same way or continue north on 87 a few miles to Hwy 260. There you will turn left (west) and go over to I-17.
Should be fun………..hope to see you there.
